Quick Hot Wings

Sometimes it’s just easier cooking wings and a salad for my boys when it comes to dinner. I may add some chef style quick mac n cheese but the main focus is to cook what I know really fast.

I hooked up these wings and added a few different types of sauces to cater to each one of those little farts. The hot wings recipe is the one they both like but sometimes I’ll do a lemon pepper sauce. However, the main focus is on the fry. I don’t use an air fryer, never have. One day that may change as I keep hearing that everyone else uses one for crispy everything. I am old school for the moment and here’s what I did to make these dudes a quick meal. This is an easy recipe.

Ingredients:

2 packets of wings (10-11 pieces each packet)

3 tablespoons of Flavor Crank’s Lip Smackin’ Chicken seasoning

About a quart of Canola oil or Grape seed oil

To Make:

Add the oil into a deep pot over a high flame and allow to come to a temp of about 350 degrees. You can check with a thermometer or just let the oil heat for about 6 minutes. In the meantime Place the wings in a large bowl and sprinkle the Lip Smackin’ Chicken seasoning over the wings. Mix in good and allow to sit in the refrigerator for an hour…or not! As long as they are seasoned, you are good to go.

After checking the temp (350 degrees), place about 10 wings into the oil. The wings should immediately begin bubbling, if not wait another minute or two until the oil is at temp. Once the wings are in, allow to fry for about six minutes and use a pair of tongs to turn the wings. Allow to cook for another six minutes and then remove from the pot. Place on a rack or on paper towels. Those bad boys are done. If you really want to make sure stick a thermometer in the meatiest part of one or two of the wings. The temp should read about 165 degrees. 160 degrees is fine because the temp will continue to rise as they sit. This will give you time to make the sauce.

To Make the sauce add ¾ to a cup of Frank’s Hot Sauce to a sauce pan. Add about two tablespoons of honey or brown sugar and a large pat of butter to the pan. Allow to come to a boil and stir. Done.

Toss the wings in a large bowl and add the sauce on top. Stir or shake to get the wings all good and saucy. Repeat with the next batch of wings. Done

You can add a little chopped parsley or cilantro to garnish. Enjoy!
